Dear Family and Friends:
With shock and great sadness, we informed our members of the tragic and sudden passing of
BOE Commissioner Reginald A. Lafayette. Reggie was a longtime member of the Black
Democrats and served as a mentor to many past and current elected officials. He was
instrumental in placing Black Democratic judges on the bench. Reggie's work changed the
political landscape in Westchester County and beyond. We will forever hold Reggie in our
hearts.
Just last January, the Black Democrats of Westchester awarded Reggie with a special Lifetime
Achievement Award. At our event, many elected officials spoke about his tremendous success
powered by his principles, values, and dedication to the Democratic Party. Reggie made the lives
of people in Westchester better by supporting civic-minded individuals to seek office and serve
the people of this County. He was a faithful public servant, and his legacy will live on through
his family, friends, and many political mentees.
Thank you, dear friend, for your unwavering commitment to all of us. Our hearts and prayers go
out to the entire Lafayette family.
